Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney, Councilmen,Seeman, Sells, Thornton,Worth. Minutes read of the last previous meeting and approved; Report of Officers read and filed; Clerk's , Treasurers, and Budget; Street Committee reported on the resolution from the Meridian Community Club in regard to regrading James Street, and Blacktoping same.Councilman Thornton made a motion and passed for the Clerk to write a letter to the Club explaining that the blacktoping of this street should be a direct assessment against the abutting property and they should contact the property owners along said street, for the requested improvment, but the street committee would when the weather permited, have the street regraded and placed in better condition. Motion was passed for the special building committee to go ahead with the final plans, of removing the high fire wall on the City Hall and construct the mens toilet in the boiler room as had been originaly planned in the building improvment. Motion was passed to have the sewage committee look into the cost of a fence to be placed around the stock pile of clay sewer pipe at the cannery site, to protect it from being broken, and removed therefrom. Letter from the Fire Dept. thanking the council for the table and chairs, and refrigerator, read and motion to be placed on file. Motion was made and passed to let the various contracts for pipe and fittings, 3000 ft. of 6" cast iron to Marckmann &I Williams @ $2.31 14000 f't. of 6" cast iron to Hugh Purcell Co at $1.63. 4200 ft. of O" C.I. to Hugh Purcell Co at $2.445. 3800 ft. of Cement Asbestos 6" to Fowler & Co at $1.30., 1000 ft. ofC@mznibtAsbestos 411 at .83. 10,000'ft. of Steel dipped & Wrapped at 791 cents to Pacific Water Works Co. 15-6" Valves at 49.00 to E.N.Hallgren Co.$- 8 inch valves at $75.00 to E.N.Hallgren Co. 4-611 Hydrants and 10-411 hydrants at $113.00 each to E.N.Hallgren Co. Total of $56,656.00 plus Tax.and icrease in market price or decrease, on cast iron pipe. Motion was passed to have the Police Committee work out a plan with the dog catcher, for better working conditions on the Dog Pound.
