Kent Washington December 7, 1948.
Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen, Armstrong, Edline, Morrill, Seeman, Sells, Thornton,
Worth.
Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved;
, Officers' report read and filed, Police Report;
Request from the State Pollution Commission, to proceed with the
construction of our Sewage Treatment Plant, by motion passed the
request was placed in the hands of the sewage committee 'for
answer.
Resolution was read from the Meridian Community Club, in regard
to .the rough condition of James Street , and asking the City to
regrade and blacktop the Cit ' s part of the Street .Motion was
passed to have the Street Co ittee look over the situation and
report back at the next regular meeting.
Ordinance read for the regulating the use of punch boards in
the City, and by motion passed the unanimous vote of the council.
Ordinance read for the fixing a penality, and the restriction of
minors playing games of skill commonly known as Pin-Ball machines,
Motion made and passed the unanimous vote of the Council.
Resolution read for the investment of monies from the 1948
water bond issue, that is not to be used until material is avail-
able ,for the replacment of mains in the water system. Motion
passed for the adoption of the resoultion, to invest 630, 000.00
in United State Treasury Bills, and $144,000.00 in United States
Certificates at 14% due 10-1-49.
Several bids were openhed and read for the buying of pipe and
fittings for the water system, the bids were placed in the hands
of the Water Committee, Water Superintendant , and fire chief for
recommendation at the next regular meeting.
Motion was passed by the unanimous vote of the council to give
the Water Committee and the Supt.power to purchase a main line
water meter, not to exceed $500.00.
