Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney, Council- men Armstrong, Edline,Morrill, Seeman, Sells, Thornton, Worth. Minutes of the last previous meeting read and filed; Report of Officers read and filed, Clerk' s Treasurers, and Budget ; Letter read from the Chief of Police, requesting of the Council, to attend the thirtenth Annual Institute of Government, at the University of Washington. Motion passed to grant the request. Councilman Sells reported on the progress of the building program, and stated that it would smon be completed, and the cost was down far below the bids that were received. Letter read from the State Hiway Dept. in reagrd to the installation of a four wadi stop at West Meeker and Fourth Ave.They recommended that the street be striped with white lines for a cross walk, and they would ,not approve a four way stop signal. Letter read from the Cornucopia Committee requesting of the Council to have permission to block off the Street , between Meeker and Gowe, on Railroad Ave. on July 24th. for the purposes of a street dance, and other entertainment. Motion passed to grant the request. Letter read from the Lions Club Sky Fair Committee requesting per- mission to drop leaflets from the air to advertise there program, Motion passed to grant the permission. Motion was passed to grant the Fire Chief permission to give the Kent Air Port Fire Protection on the day of the Sky-Fair. Resolution # 297 passed the unanimous vote of the Council, to set a hearing date for the correction of the description in Ordinance # 768 that annexed certain lands -to the City. Ordinance # 796 passed the unanimous vote of the Council, to license and regulate games of skill, and amending certain sections in Ordinance # 706. Councilman Thornton asked for another two weeks to decide , with his committee on the three bids on the James Street Culvert Job. Mr. Bauer requested of the Council , to pass an ordinance to regulate the sale of Horse Meat within the Limits of the City. Motion was pass- ed to have the Finance committee and police committee study this matte. Motion -was passed to instruct the Clerk to write a letter to the Telephone Company in regard to the ppur,service we are receiving.
