Kent Washington May 17, 1948.
Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen, Armstrong, Seeman, Sells, Thornton, Worth.
Minutes read and approved for the last regular meeting; correction
Report of Officers read and filed; Treasurers, Clerks and Budget ;
Correction of the minutes of the last regular meeting, Emerson
Thatcher remains on the planning 6ommission, for the tenure of his
office.
Councilman Seeman reported to toe Council in regard to having
a meeting with the Tavern Owners, they stated that they would
do their own policing and keep their Taverns in as good a shape as
possible if given a chance.
Bids were awarded to the Pacific Water Works Supply Co of Seattle,
for 6000 ft. of. 6" Steel Pipe at a cost of $1.10 per ft. and the
4000 ft. of 4" was awarded to Marckmann & Williams for $75. 56 per
100 ft.
Letter read from the Washington Cities recommending that the
City send an up to date map to the Secretary of State to be ueed
for allication of State monies to the City. Motion was passed to
have the City Engineer and clerk take care of same.
Petition from Mr. & Mrs. Marlowe asking the Council to vacate a
part of Alvord Ave. which was dedicated in August 1940, Motion was
passed to have the Street Committee and City Attorney investigate
and if found correct proceed with and ordinance.
The Health & Sanitation Committee was appointed to investigate
the laws on milk inspection, and report at the next meeting.
Bids were opened and read for the drilling of a well, two such
bids were received, and a motion passed to have the Water Committee
the City Attorney, and Engineer to look over the bids and report at
the next regular meeting.
Motion was passed to have the Clerk write a letter to the State
Liquor Board, in regard to issuing a permit to a store across the
street from the boundry line of the City Limits.
Motion was passed to have the City Attorney investigate the matter
of the speed of trains through the City of bent.
Motion for Clerk to write a letter to the Superintendant of the
Milwaukee R.R.CO in regard to the rough crossing at Meeker St. also .
draw their attention to the poor traffic signals they have installed
at Meeker Street crossing, and for the installation of signals at
Willis St. and Shinn St.
Mayor appointed Mr. C.C.Wallace to fill the vacancy of M.L.Armstrong
on the Planning Commission, for the unexpired term.The appointment
of .
Mr. Daniel Anderdon, and Mr. C.C.Wallace to the Planning Commission
was unaniniously adopted by the Council.
