Adjourned regular meeting of February 16,1948, to proceed with the
building program; present Mayor Mooney, Councilmen, Farman, Seeman,
Sells, Thornton,
The recommendation of the appointed building committee, was to
sign a contract with Lester McIntyre to proceed with the construction
of the Fire Station, and the improvement of the jail and police
dept. and other alterations that might be necessary to the
present City Hall, as outlined.McIntyre ' s bid submitted to do the
work on time and material, at 7% on material and labor, and 6% on
taxes and etc. The next close estimate was from Fred Straub at
71%.
Motion was passed by the unanimous vote of the council present,
by roll call, to give the contract to Leaster McIntyre of Kent ,
for the general construction wank.
The low bid received on the electric work was from Wm. Ramstead
the amount of $1, 820.80, which was low bid, and a m6tion passed by
the unanimous vote of the council present to award this bid to
Wm. Ramstead of Kent.
All bids were rejected for the plumbing and heating, and the clerk
was intructed to call for new bids, with the aid of the architect.
Motion was passed for the City crew to wreck the existing water
shop, and save all usable material for future in the building con-
struction.
Motion passed to give the building committee power to act in the
purchase of blinds for the present building.
Motion passed to have the attorney to draw up agreement with
Mr. Armstrong to lease his lot next to the present water shed for
the sborage of material, to make room for the outside storage of
material, on account of moving the present store supplies.this
agreement to be $10.00 per month, with credit for the gravel placed
on the lot.
Motion passed to discontinue the use of the scales, and place
them on the market for sale ,before the building program is com-
pleted.
Motinn for clerk to purchase a desk and chair for his office
to replace the one now in use.
