Kent Washington, August 18, 1947.
Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor pro tem,
Sells, Councilmen, Edline, Morrill , Sells, Thornton.
Minutes read from the previous meeting; and approved;
Report of Officers read and filed, Clerk' s Treasurers, and
Budget.
Mr. Thatcher acting; in place of the clerk.
The street committee reported that they had made a study of
the boundries of Hazel Street with the help of the engineer,
and recommended that no action of the Council be taken,that
the dispute was strickly a private affair.
Letters received from contractors for the construction of
the City Hall remodeling and the building of a fire station
on a cost plus estimate , was refered to the building committee
for a report at the next meeting
Letter of resignation was read and accepted by the council,
from Traffic Officer Mr. Charles Waldrop, and placed on file.
Motion was passed to accept the Milwaukee ' s offer on the
price of. the sur track, for the Blue Banner Foods, that portion
to be paid by the Oity to the amount of $2460.00
Bids were opened and read for the sale of City Lots, in North
Park Addn. to Kent .Bids were received from Joe Peace for lots
12& 13 Block 5, N.P.A. $375.00 Dave Mooney $275.00 F.M.Drake
$200.00. Motion passed to accept the offer of Joe Peace , and
Mayor and Clerk to sign the deed to same .
Motion passed for the P. S.P.&.L.CO be instructed to straighten
the light pole on First Ave . So.
Motion passed for the clerk to call for seperate bids on the
Electrical work, Plumbing, and Pleating of the proposed City Hall
Improvement .
Mr. Jay Thomas the King County Fire Marshall, discussed with
the Councilmee proposal of a Kind; County Fire District around
the City of Kent ,and the protection it would afford the surround-
ing community, and the possibility of the local Fire Dept .,
operating same.Motion passed for the Fire Chief to proceed with
plans to create a fire district .
Motion was passed to have the Clerk call for bids for a
proper pickup truck for the water Dept receiving delivery on
Dec. lst , and payment on and after Jan. 1948.
