Kent, Washington, June 2, 1947
First Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor
Mooney,Councilmen, Edline,Farman,Morrill,Seemen,Sells,Thornton,
Worth.
Minutes of blay 19,and adjourned meeting of May 21, read and
approved.
Report of officers read and filed; police report.
Request of property owners at Harrsion and Thompson Ave for
a street light installed in the enter of the block was rejected
owing to the fact that there -,was a street light on both ends of
the same block.
The P.S.P.&.Light Co submitted a new contract for street lights
to the Council, it was referred to the light committee for rec-
omendetion at the next regular meeting.
Motion was passed for the City to t9ke action in regard to the
removal of trees in the parking strlpr
Mr. Allender's request for the fixing of a parking strip,and
the installation of drain tile at Central &'Titus Street by
motion was referred to the Street Committee.
Letter read from Wm. H. Sears South end County Commissioner
in regard to the reduction in price of blacktop to the City for
use on its streets from $5.50 per ton to $3.25.
Ordinance No. 782 passed on its final passage by the unanimous
vote of the council.

Motion of the Council the approval of the appointments of the
Library and Park boards.
Motion passed for the clerk to be directed to write a letter
to the Chicago Milwaukee Railway Co, for the request of con-
struction of a spurr tract into the Blue Banner Foods plant.
Bids were opened and read for the Jbitgingof a contract for the
construction of a sewer in North Park,and a connecting sewer to
the trunk on Shinn St., for the L.I.D. 228,Inland Equipment Co
$19,548.22., Stateside Construction Co,.�>25,903.75.John Deeny
Contractor, $p20,359.00. North Park to Shinn St.Sewer Inland
Equipment Co $ 4398.62, Stateside Construction Co, 05681.25,
John Deeny Contractors, t?4565.00.Motion was passed to have the
FeQlth n d Sanitation committee give the bids study and report
at the next regular meeting.

Mr. Mort6nson ask the new administration to reconsider the request
that the Council gave Mr. Thatcher in regard to constructing a
drive way into his place and his neighbors, using part of the
Scenic Way rightaway.
Motion made by Councilman Seeman to study lair. Mortinson's
request was tabled till the next meeting.
The appointment of Mr. F.M.Imhoff as Chief of Police,was
questioned by the City Attorney, as to the legality of the
appointment,owing to the fact that the present Chief was included
in Civil Service.
From the Sheriffs Office an officer pledged whole harted sup-
port to the City and its Mayor,and presented Mayor Mooney with
a commission and badge of that office.
