Regular meeting of the City Council , present Mayor Dunbar, Councilmen, Edline,Morrill , Sells , Shoff, Thompson, Worth. Minutes of February 17 , 1947 read and approved , Report of Police read and filed; Communication red from the Red Cross thanking all that had dealings whith their organization during the recent flood. Petition read from four property owners that abutts on the alley in Block 7 'of Knob Hill Addn. to Kent ,asking the Council to vacate same.Resolution ## 278 read ,and by motion was adopted ,to set a hearing date for the vacation of and alley running through Block 7 , M.C.I . Co . Knob Hill Addn. for Monday, the 7th. day of April, at 8;oclock P.M. City Hell. , and for the Clerk to post notices according to law. Petition was received from 6 property owners in the 600 Block on South Second asking the Council if a sewer system may be extended to serve the people in said block. Motion was passed for the engineer to determin if it is possible to extend the system of sewage to the people in the 600 Block. Chairman of the building committee stated that they had held a meeting of the committee , and recommend to the Council that they hire Mr. Ripley and Weber of Seattle ,to be the architects for the building of a fire station and remodel the present city hall. Motion was passed to hire Mr. Ripley and Mr. Weber as architects ,and for the Mayor and Clerk to sign the contract for same. Mr. Willis of the Olympic Pickle Factory of this community,ask if the City would be interested in renting the tract of ground that the State Cannery is now on,and if the State did not operate this year if they could lease the building, instead of the State re- moving saine.Mayor appointed the finance committee to get in touch with the proper State officials in regard to the cannery, . Councilman Shoff made a motion for the clerk to call for bids for. the laying water pipe in North Park, to make ready for the sewer pipe prodject to complete L.I .D. ## 228. Motion passed the unanimous vote of the council present. + Motion made by Councilman Thompson and passed the unanimous vote of the council present to have the Engineer and City Attorney to continue with the L.I.D. ## 228, up to the calling for bids. Bids were opened from various pipe suppliers ,and read aloud,and by motion referred to the water committee for recommendation to the Council as to - the best bid , at the next regular meeting. Motion was passed for the street committee to look over the culvert on James Street that is about ready to be completed ,and to check if there are any additions to be made at this time before the backfill is completed.
