Regular meeting of the City Council ,present Mayor Dunbar, Councilmen, Edline ,Farman,lvlorrill ,Sells ,Shoff,Thompson,North. Minutes read and approved of December 2,1946. Report of Officers read and filed , Clerk' s Treasurers & Budget Motion was passed to have the engineer look over the broken walk, on East Smith St . and Kennebeck Ave . ,and report of his findings at the next meeting. Recommendation of the water committee to purchase a main line water meter ,by motion passed by the unanimous vote of the council to purchase meter for the price of $482.00 . Emergency ordinance # 777 was read for its second time ,and p passed by the unanimous vote of the council. Motion was passed for the City Attorney to write a letter of complaint to the Milwaukee Railway , in regard .to the poor con- dition of their signals at West Meeker St. Bids were opened and read for the awarding of the James St. Culvert contract. M.P.Butler of Seattle , $5455.12 . Gibson• & Roberts of Seattle , $2911.02 ,Geo. H.Nelson of Tecoma ,$2567.08 and H.C.McBride & Co. of Seattle , $3035.60 . Motion was passed by the unanimous vote of the council to award the bid to the lowest bidder that being Geo. H.Nelson of Tecome ,for the sum of 25.67.08. Mr. Best reported to the council that Mr . Thor C .Tollefson 6th.Congressional Dist. Representative in Congress ,will meet here Thursday,to go over the flood conditions . , the Mayor appointed the finance committee to meet with Congressman. Motion was gassed to instruct the clerk to write letters to K.,I.R.O. K.J.R. K.O.niO. and to the three Seattle papers ,in regard to protesting against the erroneous reports that were given out shout the flood condition in Kent. Motion was passed extending a vote of thanks to the local pglice Dept, for their untireing efforts during the flood period.
