Regular meeting of the City Council,present, Mayor Dunbar, Council- men, Edline,Sells, Thompson,Worth. Minutes of Sept. 16, read and approved; Report of -Officers read.and filed Police Dept. Communication read from Mrs. L.K.Wrenwick offering her vacant lot at Gowe & Central Ave, for free parking space until Dec. 31, 1947, if the City so wishestletter was referred to the police committee. Communication from the Kent Public Library,with a check enclosed to the amount of $228.48 collected from fines for overdue books, this action was the request of the State Auditor,that all money from fines should be turned over to the treasurer every month,Motion was passed for the treasurer to accept the check and credit it to the Library fund. Ordinance # 772 read and passed the unanimous vote of the Council present,accepting the plat of Miller's Notthern View 2nd. addn. to Kent, Bid from the Grover Nelson -Motor Co was opened and read,for the purchase of a sedan delivery for the Police Dept.This being the only bid received was accepted by motion of all councilmen present,at the delivered price of $1375.00 and an allowance of $445400 for the car now in use,,making the difference of i 930.00. Motion was passed to give the Chief of Police power to have the new car converted to the status of a paddy wagon,with screen, police lights,and new siren plced thereon. Motion was passed for the instruction of the City Clem to call for bids on twowater works projects,one in North Parkland one in e new addition on Knob Hill,from Vander Venter to Kirkwood Stand for the City Engineer with the Water Supt.aid to make ready plans for same. Mr. Rod and Chief of Police requested of the Council to reconsider the 101 raise they had asked for,and did not receive. Mr. Mooney made a report to the Council on the great advantage of a supervised party for the teenagers on Halloween,and how much it curtailed the damages done to the City,and he had in the past given these parties and paid the expenses from his own pocket,the cost for'the party was around �100.00 ,and it should be paid by other parties concerned.No action was taken by the council in regard to a domation towards such a party,on account of no monies avail- able for that purpose. October, 9th. 1946.for the final passage of the budget. Adjourned meeting of the City Council, present,Mayor Dunbat, Councilmen Edline,Sells,Thompson,Worth. No one appearing against the final hearing of the budget of 1947,Ordinence # 773 adopting the budget for 1947 was passed by the unanimous vote of the Council present,and ordinance # 774 fixing the tax levy for the year of 1947 was passed by the unanimous vote of the Council present.
