Kent Washington January 21 ,1946 .
Regular meeting of the City Council present ,Mayor Dunbar,
Councilmen,Farman,Morrill,Sells ,Shoff,Thompson,Worth.
Minutes read and approved of Jan. 7 ,46.
Report of Officers read and filed ,Budget,Treasurers and Clerks.
VThompson reported on his meeting with Mr. Forbes,inregard to
the site for the Sewage Disposal Plant ,and recommended that the
site just north of the septic tank be purchased.
-- Motion was passed for the Finance Committee get an 'option on
the said site.
Farman recommended that the city purchase steel stop signs,in-
stead of the wooden ones that have been in use since the war.
Motion was passed for the police committee to purchase $200.00
worth -of traffic signs as needed.
Motion was passed for the City Attorney to look up what power the
City Health-Officer had in regard to having health laws enforced ,
and inform IDr. :Morgan of same.
Petition was read from eleven property owners requesting the
alley to be opened a"t.from James St.south to Pioneer,between R.R.
Ave. North and Central Ave . North.The petition was referred to the
street committee for investigation.
Thompson reported that Mr. Fetterly on south Central ,would like
permission to extend the city sewer dawn the alley to his property.
Forbes and Brett were instructed to give an estimate on the job.
The Clerk ask the Council if they be willing to sell the transit
that they now owned to one of Forbes & Brett' s surveyors ,that has
been using it the past several weeks ,he offering the city $100 .00
for same.The offer was rejected,and a motion passed for the clerk
to instruct Forbes & Brett to return the transit and level that
they had of the city's.Motion was passed to place the surveying
equipment of the Cities in the custody of the clerk.
Street commitee intrduced Mr. Hoyt of the Asphalt Paving Co of
Seattle , to tell the council about asphalt for the resurfacing of
west Meeker,he said it would cost about $9000.00 dollars and it
would be a permment Job.Motion was passed to have Forbes & Brett
engineers to prepare plans an specifications for the resurfcing of
west meeker from the old Interurban righteway to - Ave .
Motion was passed to hire Forbes & Brett by the hour for all
engineering needs. 1
The Mayor appointed Forges & Brett as our City Engineers.
Morrill recommended that the council look into the matter of
purchaseing a new grader and mower and other equipment that the
street dept. needed at this time.
Motion was" passed for the Attorney to write Sears & Williams a
letter inregard to the moving of the lettuce crates or else.
The Mayor announced that there would be a meeting of the .Valley
Cities next wednesday at Enumclaw.
Motion Was passed for tlXe Attorney to enforce the delinquencys
on the garbage ordinance .
