Kent Wash-ington July,2,1945.
Regular meeting of the City Council,present Mayor Dunbar,
Councilmen,Edline•,Farman,Sells,Thompson.
Minutes of June 18,read and approved;
Police report read and filed;
Councilman Thompson reported on the progress the sanitation
committee were making in regard to having a City garbage collection
system installed,the committee recommended that the City make an
ordinance to the effect of a monthly charge per can,and have it
placed on the water bill each month.Motion was made and passed
to lay the matter over till the next meeting.
The engineer reported on the progress he was making on the
North Park add. drainage situation.
A letter was read by the clerk in regard to Libby's dumping
garbage into the sewer,from the State Health Dept.They advised that
they were opposed to any such operations,and the cannery should
make other arrangements to dispose of their wastes.
A letter read from the State Pollution Commission in regard to
our sewer system,making it very plain that the City is going to
install a sewage treatment plant in the very near future.
A motion was made to have a letter mailed to Mr. Truckenbrodt
a copy of the one from the State Health Dept.
The mayor announced that the present Health-OfficePresigned,
Dr. MacGregor „ and he appointed Dr. Morgan to fAll the vacancy*
it was sanctioned by the unanimous vote of the council present.
The Chief of police recommended that the council consider the
possiblity of the purchase of a new police Car,or have the present
one thourly over-hauld,because it was in very deplorable shape.,
It was placed in the hands of the Police committee for consideration.
