Regular meeting of the City Council ,present Mayor Dunbar,Council- men,Forman,Morrill,Sells ,Shoff,Thomp.son,Worth. Minutes of March 5th. read and approved; Reports of officers read and filed,Budget ,Tressurers ,and Clekks. Councilman Farman reported on the taxi ordinance ,and the clerk read one that Auburn has inforce.Motion was passed to have the City Attorney revamp to our needs ,the Auburn ordinance in regulating taxicabs. The report of the engineer on north park addition drainage was referred to the drainage committee for further action. Councilman Morrill reported that the streets were taken care of as fast as the present street crew could handle it,and recommend- ed that the Council buy a new truck, so that the dump truck could be used soley for street purposes.Motion was passed to call for bids to buy a new truck. Letter was read from theProsecuting Attorney of King County in regard to the Justice of Peace issuing warrents of arrest for drunking driving,and reckless driving ,and for him to refrain - from this practice ,that they are to be sent to Seattle for trial. Motion was passed for the clerk to write a letter to the Prosecuting AttorneyLloyd Shorett,for him to reconsider his order in regard to our Justice of Peace dealing with drunk driving cases in his court. Ordinance read for the fixing of salaries for City employees, Resolution No.261 ' pa$sed by the unanimous vote of the Council present ,to pass an emergency ordinance ,and for the clerk to post a hearing notice according to law. Resolution # 262 passed the unanimous vote of the council present in regard to the request of the State Auditor to increase the Treasurer' s Bond.It being increased $52000.00 . Resolution # 263 passed the unimous vote of the Council-present in regard to taking offthe books of a shortage of long standing , this being the recommendation of the Division of Municipal Corp. Motian-was made and passed for the police committee to act on scotchlite cloth for stop signs. Councilman Sells reported that the property owners on that part of R.k*'Ave. South, just south of Gowe Street on the East Side ,would like to get the price on paving the parking strip,A motion was passed 'to instruct the engineer to give them to estimate on the price of -the required prodject. Councilman Morrill reported that at various times people would like to see the old band stand in the park fixed or removed,it was referred to the Park committee. Chief' of police Allread made a report bn the parking on First Ave.south of Meeker St. one block.in regard to the diagonal parking Mr. Calloway the contractor on the Arney building,reported to the council that he would clear the sidewalks of the scaffold work as soon as the weather permited ,him to proceed with the stucco work.
