' Regular meeting of the City Council,present Mayor Dunbar, Councilmen Farman,Miller,Morrill,Sells ,Thompson Shoff,Worth. Minutes of Febriiary,19 ,1945 read and approved; Reports of officers read and filed; Councilman Thompson reported that the ditch west of Clark St. was completed,and the crossing on Smith street at the N.P.tracks was fixed. Winner St.was reported fixed at the request of a petition re- ceived at the previous council meeting. Councilman Morrill reported on the army truck that he was to look into and report at this meeting,there were none suitable at the mount Rainier ordnance dept.and he recommended that the council purchase a new truck,if they decided to purchase any. Received a, letter from the City Engineer in regard to the price of laying paving,6" thick and 20 ft. wide at a cost of $4.82 per property front foot -for improvement of streets. A taxi ordinance was drawn up by the City Attorney,and was referred to the police committee for further study. Councilman Shoff reported that Mrs .Merlowe was to see him in regard to having water piibed to their place ,nc action taken. Various officials from North Test Metals presented to the council,the effect on their production,and keeping men on the job on account of uch s serious housing shortage here.Mr. Fouriner and Mr:�` 6/8t` the King County Housing edthori�ty ask the council if they could secure a housing pro*Aject here at Kent,would the counc'il cooperate with them in providing wager and sewage facilities. Councilman Worth made a motion and passed,in that there is a definite need for public housing for war workers in Kent and . vicinity,and if such housing is programed the City of Kent will cooperete ,by making available its facilities of public utilities , and the clerk will so advise by mail.King County Housing Authority and National Housing Agency.
