Regular meeting of the City Council ,present Mayor Dunbar, Councilmen,Farman,Miller,Morrill,Sells ,Shoff Thompson,Worth. Minutes of Feb.5th. read and approved; Reports of Officers read and filed,Clerk's Treasurer' s and Budget; Councilman Thompson reported on various drainage questions ,and Mr. Hirleman be reemburst for the price of the drain tile that he installed in the street on Jason Street ,by motion it was passed to do so.Motion was made and passed to place a drain tile on the east side of Hazel Ave. just north of Temperance Street.The surplus water that goes across Clark Ave . and into a field east of it ,was placed in the hands of the drainage committee for action. The petition from north park in regard to the drainage situation was still referred to the lvP7- committee for action with the City engineer to advise as to what could be done . The A&P Store garbage that is placed in the allgy,was reffered to the Health Office for action. A patetion from North Park Addition to Kent was received in regard to putting gravel on Winner St.from Fivst Ave. past 3rd.and to the bridge,it was signed by 15 people that used the street.It was placed in the hands of the drainage committee for investigation. Councilman Morrill reported that the street committee was looking over the streets ,and desided that they could handle the street situation much better if the council weuilYd purchase an army truck • for the water department ,so it would free the dump truck for street purposes•,Motion was made and passed for the street committee to find out about the cost of a trucktsize and etc. Various citizens attended the council meeting,expressing thiir opinnion that the streets should be put in better shape than they were in,end a program set up to blacktop or pave some of the more traveled streets. Councilman Thompson reported to the City Council the crossing on the N.P. at Smith St,was quiet abrupt ,end the late model cars would dreg on the planks ,the clerk was instructed to write a letter to the N.P.Ry. Co,drawing their attention to this oondition,and a very loose plank in the spurr track -at the Meeker St . crossing. Councilman miller recommended that the engineer establish prices on the cost of blacktop and paving.
