Regular meeting of the City Couneil ,present Mayor Dunber ,couneil- men,Farman,Miller,Morrill,Sells,Shoff,Thompson,Worth. Minutes of Jan. 15th. read and approved; Reports of officers read and filed; Councilman Worth recommended from the findings of the committee appointed by the Mayor,that the City Council go on record that the State continue to operate the Cennery,known as State Cannery # 1. Motion was made and passed by the Council per recommendations of the committee. Councilman Thompson reported on the progress of the confort station to be erected in the park north of Meeker Street,all plans have been completed,and was ready for the action of the Council to have it submitted to the N.P.Railway Co for approval as to the new location.It was to-. be continued until next meeting. Councilman Farman reported on the parking lot just north of the parks ,and mentioned -that they had at present three carloads of cinders spread thereon. ,end expected two more cars in the near futher to complete the job. Councilman Worth recommended a street light be placed in the 600 block on South Fifth Ave. ,end a motion was made and passed to. have the Clerk write a letter to the P.S.P.&.Light Co to install same. The request of Mr.R.E.Wooden Justic of Peace ,to use the up stairs room in the City Hall in regard to holding large cases in his count, that he could not, handle in his small office at his house was granted. A petition with 30 signatures on it was presented to the Council from North Park Addition of Kent,requesting the Council to eliminate the flood conditions that exist ,by ditching or drainning. ,It was placed in the hands of the drainage committee for investigating. The Auditor' s report of the City of Kent just completed was placed in the hands of the Council for examination.The matter of the Treasurer's Bond not being large enough was brought to the attention of the council by Councilman Miller and being recommended by the auditor Mr. Miller to be increased by 45,000.0O ,it was placed in the hands of the finance committee for a report next meeting. Motion was made and passed for the City Attorney to draw up an ordinance to govern and regulate taxicabs in the City. Mr.Rod recommended to the Council that a replacment of the sewer between Titus- and Saar St. should be- taken care- of in the near future. referred to the seweage and drainage committee. The Clerk drew the attention of the council ,that there were to be appointed,three election officials in each of the four precincts , for the primary election to be held Feb. 13,1945.
