Kent,Washington November 6,1944.
Regular meeting of the City Council present,Mayor Dunber,Council-
men,Farman,Morrill,Sells,Shoff,`North.
Minutes of October 16,read and approved;
Police report read and filed;
Letters read from the Assn.of 171ashington Cities,requesting city
officals to be present at the nearest regional meeting plaee,and
have suggestions to any particular problems you wish to have dis-
cussed at this time.A letter asking to make post war projects and
to submit them to Work Control Engineer H.G.Porak State Highway Dept.
A letter was submitted from the Concrete Construction Co of
Auburn,at the request of the Street committee,and engineer" to the
cost of repairing sidewalks that were in bad condition,walks at 300
per sq.ft.paving at 600 per sq.ft.curb at 1.00 per lin.ft.and other
work where it was necessary to grub roots -and excecate,would be con-
sidered at cost plus 10%.the street committee was to have power to act.
Councilman Farman reported on the police committee in regard of the
appointment of a new man ,to fill ttte vacancy of R.E.Graham.,and one
other to work as special police,in order as explained above,John
Symens,and Mr. Ostrom.
Councilman Shoff reported on the service main to be installed by
the owners for water,at the Ishem corner extending south for
several users.Motion was made and passed to grant them the extension
if at such time the city runs short of water in the peak season,we
will seek additional water resources.
Councilman Farman reported on the police dept.members using their
cars when the prowler was in use,and recommended that the members
should be granted gasoline for this purpose,it was left in the
hands of,the police committee for recommendation at the next regular
meeting:
The City Clerk and engineer was instructed to draw up post-war
pro4jeets,to be submitted to the council for approval.
Motion was made and passed for the finance committee to investigate
some trunk sewer bonds issued by the City,that were being placed on
the market for sale.
Motion was made and passed for the Clerk to write letters to Mr.
Callaway contractor on the Arney Building to request him to clear
up the sidewalks of lumber and scaffold work as soon as possible,and
a letter to Mr. Arney to,refrain from placing litter on the side walk.
