Regular meeting of the City Council,present ,Mayor Dunbar,
Councilmen,Farman,Miller,Sells,Thompson.
Minutes of June 5th.read and approved;
Reports read and filed ,Clerk' s,Treasurer's and Budget;
Communications from the fuel administration reed ,as to buying
fuel now to void shortage this fall.
Councilman 11,iiller reported that the street committee recommend-
- ed the petition of "Hazel B.Craln,Roland Crain,Helen Dow Whitaker,
and William K.Whitaker"to vacate that portion- of Morton Street ,
extending from south State St. to Burke Ave.Motion was made and
passed by the council to do so , .
Councilman Thompson reported on the Guiberson sceptic tank,it
to be taken care of the following week.
Councilman Thompson reported on two policemen to be appointed
in the vacancies now in the police dept.Motion was made to give
the police committee power to act after an investigation of the
two men seeking the appointment.
Ordinance # 741 giving the Santa Cruz packing Co of Calif.
to maintain a pipe line over First Ave. North,to convey peas to
the freezing plent,and under Smith St.for a period of ten years
and for the Santa Cruz Co to carry and indemnifying security
for the protection of the City.
Councilman Farman reported that the Northern Pacific Railway
Co would grant the City permmission to use the strip of ground
north of Meeker Street to be used for a parking lot.
All claims were allowed paid except the one of Margaret Spillman
for damages against the City,alledge as follows,triped on side
walk and received bruises.to the extent of $1,280.00 .
Motion' wes made- and passed to give her claim to the City
Attorney for investigation." Margaret Spillman residing at 408
McMillen St.
