Kent Washington May 15 ,1944.
Regular meeting of the City Council,present Mayor Dunbar ,Couneil-
men, Farman,Morrill,Miller,Sells,Shoff,Thompson,Worth.
Minutes of May 1, read and approved ;
Clerk' s,Treasurer's ,and Budget reports read and filed;
Councilman Morrill reported that he would make his final report
on the vacation of East Morton St.st the next regular meeting,and
recommended that Mr. Childs should be granted some gravel at the
crossing at First and Millis St.Councilmen Worth was instructed to
investigate a request for a larger street light bulb at the same
interrsection.
Councilman Thompson made a motion and passed to instruct the
City Health Officer to write a letter to Mrs.Nell Guiberson in re-
gard to her over flowing septic tank,that same shall be fixed.
Councilman Miller made a motion and passed for the City Engineer
4v establish alley lines in back of Emil Remsteed' s residenee ,so
the adjoinning property owners may grade alley to become usable .
Motion was made and passed to have the City Engineer draw up
plans for a comfort stetion,to be submitted to the Northern Pacific
Railway Co.for approval to conform with their request.
The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mrs.Andrew Nelson
informing her that she could not connect her sceptic tank to the
storm sewer at 704 W-Willis St.
Motion was made by councilman Sells and passed ,to write a letter
to the Washington Frosted Foods Inc,. and The Santa Cruz Packing Co
of Californis',to inform them that they are requested to have their
insurance policies indoredd to cover the City of Kent ,in regard to
liability ,for the over head crossings they are using over City
streets.
An' ordinance was read for its first time granting The Santa Cruz
Company of Californie ,permmission to place an over head pipe across
First Ave . North,and under Smith St.to convey peas to the Pacific
Refregirsti Co.
Ordinancel 739 was voted on and pessed,celling a special election
to vote upon a proposition to purchase property,establish and main-
tain thereon a civic Center for the City,end levying a tax by special
assessment to raise money to pay therefor.
Motion was made to give the street committee power to actin regard
to people having their streets oil infront of their property,and the
City paying pert of the cost.
Mr. Fallgreen gave an estimate on the cost of laying a sewer
So. fourth and Third Ave . So. 300 ft. of six inch pipee,one
manhole,end a flush tank if needed,to cost the property owners about 4
$ 710.00.Motion was made awerpassed
