Kent,Washington October 16,1943
Regular meeting of the City Council;present Mayor Dunbar,
Councilmen,Naden,Sells ,Shoff,Thompson,and Worth,
Minutes of October 4th.read and approved;
Reports of City Clerk,Treasurer,and Budget ,read and filed ;
A letter was read from the Washington State Defense Council ,
drawing our attention that the army had used trucks for sale for
the sum of $1.00to be used by Cities for fire fighting purposes.
A motion was made and passed,giveing the Fire Chief power to
investigate ,these trucks ,and purchase of same if needed for
fire fighting purposes.
A letter was received from the University of California,in re-
gard to the expression of the City Council ,as to the Pacific
coast Japanese question,since Pearl Harbor.
The Mayor asked for a discussion on the Japanese question,from
this discussion a motion was made to draw up a resolution a-
long the same lines as the one adopted by the National
American Legion.
Councilman Neden made a motion and passed, .That the services
of the watchman at the springs was no longer needed,and he be
notified of the same ,starting Oetober,31 ,1943.
Councilman Sells brought to the attention of the City Council
that other Cities such as Renton and Auburn,were collecting
or charging rent,for space used by the O.P.A. boerd.and made
a motion that was carried,to charge the Q.P.A. board $35.00
per month,starting November lst.1943.for the office room
that was created for them in the large room on the second
floor.
