Regular meeting of the City Council ;present Mayor Dunbar,
Councilmen,Morrill,Naden,Sells Shoff ,Thompson,and Worth.
Minutes June ,21 ,read and approved :
Police report read and filed :
Communication read from,University of California ,pertaining
to the .Japanese question on the pacific coast as a post-war
program.
Communication read from the Association of Washington Cities
in respect to the farm labor shortage ,and how some of the-
cities -are being of help to save this years crops,General
discussion followed.
Resolution # 243 Whereas the City of Kent has available
funds,to purchase $ 30 ,000.00 worth of United States War
Bonds from the respective funds,Current Expense ,$11,000.00
Street Fundf$ 10,000.00 ,and Bond Interest & Redemption fund
$ 9,000.00.Series G, in denominations of $ 1,000,00 each.
Motion .made and past with the unanimous vote of the council
present.
A motion was made and past giving the street committee power
to actlin regard to the Pacific Refregiration Co,requesting
the City to place some sort of a bull rail along the switch
track on north second,west of their property,to keep the cars
from parking over the tracks , .
Mr.Rod brought up the question of not having any men available
on holidays in case of a bad break in the water mains, .It was
placed in the hands of the water committee for investigation
and further study.
Councilman Thompson informed the council that we did not have
a merchant patrol at present,and recommended that there be a
fourth policeman be put on the regular police force ,and dis-
continue the merchant patrol.It was placed in the hands of the
police committee for further study.
A motion was made and past to give the police committee power
to aet ,in regard to fixing up the City jail,to take care of
women customers.
A motion was made and past,to give the building committee
power to act inregard to having the window frames of the Citjt
Hall painted.
A motion was made and past ,to draw up a resolution for the F
next regular meeting,giving the Fire Chief power to act,
under the State Mutal Aid Law.
