Kent , Washington, August 5 , 1940
Regular meeting of the City Council ; Present Councilmen Barnes ,
Dunbar, Neden, Sells , Shoff & Thompson, Councilmam Morrill
coming in late. Councilman 3unbar acting Mayor.
Minutes of the last regular meeting , 4uly 15 last , read and
approved. Police report for July presented and filed.
Mayor & Clerk directed to sign deed to Byron McVey, for a
part of lot 9 , Nadens unrecorded plat.
A comunication was read from the City of Auburn in responce
to the City of Kent' resolution of thanks , for blue-prints.
Ordinance No. 707 , creating an extention to Alvord Street No. ,
was read and upon motion placed upon its final passage and carri d
by the unimous vote of all of the Councilmen present.
Bids on the Smith St. culvert were opened and refered to the
Street Committee for investigation and report.
An ordinance establishing civil service for the Police Dept.
was upon recomendation axd of the Committee and unanimous vote ,
laid upon the table indefinitely.
Matter of the Dean St . Gravel Pit , refered to the Street Com.
with power to act.
