Regular meeting of the City Council; present Mayor 11urkeu and Council-
men I3oundy, Boucher , Boyker, Dunbar, Johnson, Leach & 115ooden.
ILinutes of the meeting of October 20th. last , reed and approved.
Fudget 'report for October presented and filed.
The following resolution read and adopted:
IT IS RI4�SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Kent , "ashincton, that
the lfayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and empowered to execute
any deeds , conveyances , contracts or any other necessary instruments,
effecting the title or reconveying to any interested persons , any int-
erest in or to any property , right-of-vray or other property interests
in any lands , lots or property included in and covered by the right-of-
way of the water pipe line of the City of Kent , and to release quitclaim
or recouvey the same in case of nonuser or abandoment by the said city;
and that any or all conveyances , deeds or other instruments heretofore
executed by the City of Kent effecting said right-of-vray, are hereby
confirmed and approved.
Three applications for the position of St. Cleaner were presented
and upon motion the position eras given to Fred Bach.
Comunication from the 17ayor of Olympia, reguarding a meeting to be
held there November 21 and 22 , vas read and filed.
THE FOLLO71ING RESOLUTION VAS PJ?,AD AUD ADOPTED.
TqIFREAS an Ordinance of the City of Kent , granting to the Seattle Vase Co
the right , privilege and franchise to construct , maintain and operate
gas works for the manafucture of gas and also lay pipe lines and mains
in the streets , avenues , lanesl alleys , high-rays and other public places
in the City of Kent , which said ordinance was designated as ordinance
11o . 611 and whweeras section six of said ordinance provides,"That the said
Grantee shall comence work under this franchise within sixty days from
the time this ordinance goes into effect; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
that the intent of said clause relative to comencement of said work under
said franchise rill be satifified if actual cmnstruction is started by
said Grantee comencing to extend its gas transmission line from the pre-
sent terminus thereof near the southern limits of the City of Seattle
along the Highway leading towards Kent and said requirements of said
franchise will be considered to be satisfied-, by such comencement even
though the work is not done vrithin the City limits of Kent and affadavit
of the Seat11 Gas Company certifying that such cork has been started ,
will be accepted by this Council as evidence of such commencrient.
Clerk instructed to procure pipe and comence 1*=ork on renewal of
pipe line on Alvord street.
Upon motion an Trafic Signal vyas ordered for Smith St. and Central
Avenue .
